The Akshaya Patra Foundation operates the world’s largest NGO-run Mid-Day Meal Programme. Through its 33 kitchens across 12 Indian states, it supplies mid-day meals to over 1.7 Million children every day in 14624 schools to encourage them come to school. It also improves their nutritional well-being.

With my NGO having similar core objectives of improving the lives of school students, I have been appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for The Akshaya Patra Foundation.

My role is to spread awareness about the foundation, its programs, the millions of children its supports and create tangible action by involving people in their movement against hunger and malnutrition.

I also promote their initiative of moving beyond the meal program to focus on sanitation and hygiene. I visit schools to train students in the right way of washing hands, I train staff in food handling and safety and the importance of using caps, masks and gloves.

On the occasion of National Nutrition Month, I endorsed their Outreach Campaign by encouraging people to sign pledge cards committing to ‘no wastage of food’ and to support the under served people by feeding them.
